This morning

I awoke
to the
mirrored
image of
Diamond Head
once a spectacle
aging and green
it gives a sense
of morality

a basin
nestles
houses
looking
like an
amphitheatre
house tops
loom like
spectators

oceans edge
stand giants
moored in
sand they tower
above the palms
creating shadows
of danger

eclipsing

sun and moon
and I
but a speck
on his
shoes

Hawaii II

In Hawaii
my home
is built on
stilts and
overlooks
a canyon of
houses
trees of leafy
green overgrow
gardens all
wild now like
animals
the street lamps
like orange
pearls dot
darkness
the breeze
is smooth
like custard

Night time

bedIt’s night
my back
is to you
as I sit
and stare
at the moon
sheets
were fresh
snow hours
ago become
drifts you
lay naked
embracing
a pillow
like a life-jacket
my eyes
can’t shut
when I see
you there
a child
exhausted
by a day
at the
beach

Breakfast

Breakfast
is served
entwined
in cotton and
bathed in
sunlight
first course
is your shoulder
poking through
meringue
second is
your torso
bronzed
bathing in early
morning sun
sliced by wafting
sheers
dessert
is a sweet
surprise
from the
south

Stephen

Long ago
fondness
prompts
me to
think

about memories

dog-eared
and yellow
they crumble
now into an
ashy pool

he was
my first lover
longing ache
I recall
like a god
an idol
I worshipped

memorizing
him
