The last
night we
dined
we laughed
so loud
like air
raid sirens
that we
were asked
to stop
Hannah
our server
was funny
too and
we laughed
and laughed
like clowns
Month: September 2018
Waikiki
I sit
on my perch
high above
the ocean
and Waikiki
and stare
down
upon them
the ocean
is there
in the distance
blue
on sky blue
towers
of Waikiki
stand guard
like giants
David Deux
At the bar
we sat
close enough
that arms
and legs
brushed against
each other
like brushes
to shoes
the brief
touch was
an electrocution
it sent shivers
through my body
like licking
a battery
his touch
even absent-mindedly
was surprising
passionate
friendly
David
It’s laughter
that brings
us together
like magnets
chocolate
eyes set in pecan
lids they smile
while we laugh
small like a
whippet
lithe like a
greyhound
his hairy legs
are wound
to spring
into action
atop
the comforter
Castles
The day
started with spots
of color
walking sidewalks
to the beach
surfers with
pretty white
boards
paddle against
the waves
riding them
like a seesaw
they bob and
bounce like buoys
or corks
the day
was a beach
where we played
in sand and built
castles
