I yearn to
Find my shadow
Gone since this
Cloud cover of
Despair made landfall
I yearn for
My buddy that
Joins me daily
On walks or movies
Or dinners but
Instead I’m shadowless
One man alone
I yearn to
Find my shadow
Gone since this
Cloud cover of
Despair made landfall
I yearn for
My buddy that
Joins me daily
On walks or movies
Or dinners but
Instead I’m shadowless
One man alone
Today starts crisp
Like the first
Succulent bite into
A cold apple
The morning dew
On my toes
Tickling like wet
Feathers and the
Birdsong symphonies in
Stereo surrounding me
Low sun catches
Tall tree tops
Making them glow
Sudsy like kitchen
Sponges as the
Steam rises from
My coffee like
Sirens released ghostly
From Pandora’s box
And like a
Package promised yesterday
I wonder now
When my bell
Will ring and
You’ll be on
My doorstep oh
I know that
You’re out slaying
Dragons and fighting
Battles but wait
I do for
You my love
Are long overdue
It’s morning when
The suns shallow
Rays ignite the
Tree tops making
Them explode with
Greens and yellows
And browns like
Fireworks against a
White-wispy blue backdrop
Even the birds
Utter sweet soft
Oooos and ahhhhs
Here in Charlotte
I often wonder
If the fish
In the sea
Bump into each
Other while swimming
In the currents
Or is that
Something humans do
If so I’m
Lucky that we
Aren’t fish for
Bumping into you
Was simply humankindness
