The day awakens
And like little
Ants people begin
To scurry about
Most just walking
A few running
But me I
Drink my coffee
And observe the
World around me
Like a goldfish
In a bowl
The day awakens
And like little
Ants people begin
To scurry about
Most just walking
A few running
But me I
Drink my coffee
And observe the
World around me
Like a goldfish
In a bowl
Happy day for
No reason really
Happy to see
The nighttime bugs
Swirl and dance
Around a streetlight
Like teenage sock
Hoppers around the
Chuck Barry sound
Happy to feel
The nighttime dampness
About to dry
Into another plantation
Hot week day
Happy to hear
Cars approach quietly
Like curious cats
Then speed by
Their headlights creating
Ghouls on streets
Happy for everything
Just plain happy
And now the
Sun trims the
Tall tree tops
Like silky ribbons
Atop holiday presents
They glow like
Nightlights warding off
Monsters they bloom
Like greenish yellow
Stalks of broccoli
Steaming in a
Shallow pan while
The rest remain
Huddled like soldiers
Standing guard stoically
The morning sky
Is the blue
Of a newborns
Eyes not one
Cloud blemishes it
On the western
Edge it glows
White with a
Hint of crimson
Like a soft
Candle as tiger
Lilies bob in
The soft breeze
This Charlotte morning
How did we
Sneak up on
Each other how
Did this happen
To us friends
We were everything
Was fun and
Then yesterday we
Fought then realized
That we meant
More to each
Other like realizing
That we are
Copper painted gold
And not gold
Painted copper that
We’re really diamonds
And not just
Some sparkly baubles
