Questions

The thought of

You brings some

Joy like cloud

Bursts on the

Dog days of

Summer but mostly

Questions like a

Dog at the

Fence wondering if

The bus will

Bring Jack or

Jill back home

Nightmares

Bad dreams greeted

Me this morning

Filled with unrequited

Loves that haunted

Me like teasing

Ghouls some I’ve

Never dreamed before

Others have long

Brought me pain

Unable to shed

These terrors upon

Awakening I now

Shiver with a

Very heavy heart

Guilty

Yes I’m guilty

Of forcing your

Roundness into the

Square hole of

Me guilty of

Concocting a dream

Of us and

Happily ever after

When the truth

Of you withered

On the vine

Like ignored and

Passed over fruit

Left to rot

In reality’s sun

Back to planting

I will tend

To my orchard

The next time

Around bringing home

Next years harvest

OnceAgain

Free again at

Long last again

Alone again at

Long last alone

The cobwebs of

You swept aside

No longer a

Slave to the

Meal you promised

As paltry as

Your affection was

I can now

Once again at

Long last once

Again dine from

The full buffet

That life is

GoneAtLast

Let you go

I did for

You’ve been pulling

On the leash

Running away towards

Something else ready

To move on

With your life

I hear you

Howling from the

Hills beyond I

Am finally free
