After our Supreme Courts
Decision to eliminate autonomy
Over a woman’s body
I heard the oddest
Sound pop then pop
And pop pop pop
Very very strange indeed
Then more and more
Pops pop pop pop
Pop pop pop popping
A thunderstorm of popping
Now I know why
It was all the
Heads that have been
Buried in the sand
Popping up and realizing
That a government that
Gives freedoms can also
Remove them nothing
Is ever really guaranteed
I can’t shake off
This sadness this despair
It’s like waking from
A dream that I
Can’t forget it’s like
Knowing that I should
Break up with her
But how how do
I leave the one
Person I’ve ever known
This is how I
Feel about my country
My land my home
And now today I
Finally understand how others
Around the world feel
Oh America how
Great thee are huh
We are abominable truly
We have just eliminated
A woman’s right to
Her own body as
Well as sanction the
Rights for guns so
I guess here in
America it’s okay to
Slaughter children in school
But God forbid you
Do it before born
Sometimes in our lives
All that is required
Is grabbing the hose
And watering the dirt
With no intention really
Of ever growing anything
But it does give
Us time to think
And sometimes that time
Results in a yield
Harvested in the future
When two things disparate
Come together things happen
Either they mix temporarily
Like boxers eventually returning
To their respective corners
Or they remain together
Like pen to paper
That without the other
Either has little purpose
Be either the boxers
Or pen and paper
Someone to be avoided
Or someone to keep
