This quiet morning starts
with the haunting piano
of Satie and with
each note and chord
I can feel the
resonance and harmony in
my heart his music
longs like faraway lovers
whose souls used to
sing but now weep
like tulip petals which
gather at the bottom
of a wilting stem
having once known beauty
like half eaten food
followed by door slams
and the heavy sigh
of love once known
Satie makes me remember
all of the things
I thought I forgot
Important things I’ll add
but then not really
Month: May 2023
Stock
I have finally learned
that the love of
friends far outweighs the
affection of a lover
Friendship to me is
like a hearty stock
the base upon which
you can add things
things that you consume
first but it’s stock
which remains to the
end finishing a truly
delicious meal and life
MountainMorning
My love I really
wish that you could
see what I’m seeing
The full moon grows
bigger but also dims
as it slowly dips
behind the mountains of
your breathing chest as
well as the breathtaking
peaks far behind you
as I being but
a tourist in this
morning range of us
WidowNight
The moon hangs high
in the western sky
like a pearl broach
pinned delicately onto the
front of a velvet
mourning coat worn by
widows at the cemetery
slowly slipping behind the
mountains like the hugs
of attending well wishers
and will in a
few hours be replaced
by the sparkling pendant
of the sun as
the widow night takes
her leave and abandons
her misery for day
hoping for something better
It’s often the wisest man who speaks the fewest words and the idiot who rambles on entertaining himself with his own.
