Suddenly things became important
what was wasn’t enough
there was a need
to know more now
names ages and jobs
suddenly all became relevant
making me wonder why
why now not just
now but right now
when before before when
desires flame was ignited
by fantasy and expectation
it never even mattered
now maybe I thought

HowIHadToDo
I had finally realized
that the ground beneath
my feet was barren
incapable of bearing fruit
so I laid waste
to everyone I knew
marched to the bridges
connecting me to them
and set them ablaze
next it was fields
and finally my home
It was then I
knew that everything I’d
known was finally gone
enriching the earth itself
preparing it and me
for the next harvest
Promises
At this my long
in the tooth phase
I know that plans
and promises are as
unlikely to be kept
as an explorer spinning
a tale in order
to receive favor from
his king boasting of
a brave new world
Sometimes people do stay
true pointing to their
horizons but those are
likely only the adventurers
and the truly courageous

Sitting here drinking coffee
waiting for someone to

There is an infinite
amount of beauty in
our world but for
me it’s in little
things like a child’s
laugh a dog’s yawn
midnight snowfall but my
favorite is your smile
