It’s mostly about sex
most everything is nowadays
maybe it’s been that
way for a long
time but I being
a lover still believe
that love is everything
maybe sex and love
are the same things
having now enjoyed each
no I think sex
is like an anchor
keeping you in place
at least until it’s
time to set sail
but love is like
a balloon already on
its way to somewhere
and only ever lands
when it’s gotten there

Some friends are friends
and some are lovers
and even others stay
but most they go
some lovers are sexual
and some are intimate
and even others both
but most they blow
I prefer my friends
to be my friends
and my lovers my
lovers for when my
friends decide to stay
my lovers often stray

I honestly can’t say
which I like better
sunrise or sunset with
you the day belongs
to others but us
the beginning and end
is only ever reserved
for what we have
it’s the morning for
me night for you
but it’s the kisses
the kind and often
wanton kissing that takes
us both into then
Relationships
Having ended one thing
only ever starts another
that’s the funny part
about most every thing
nothing is ever really
over one relationship ends
and another one begins
not necessarily with anyone
different but the same
relationships never really end
they become something else
Wasteland
Why’s it so hard
to find someone who
can laugh are we
all that hopelessly miserable
that we can’t muster
a single laugh about
the folly of life
has our current culture
ground what little humor
was left into a
sharpened knife’s edge meant
to eviscerate what tidbit
of humanity that remains
humor is the result
of commonality of shared
experiences of similar chagrin
have we become so
angry as to not
even laugh at ourselves
this is the wasteland
