Feels

I often laugh
at almost everything
that you do
that you say
but never ever
what you feel
for those feelings
are your ghosts
haunting only you
with the verve
of the furies
and laying waste
to even hope
we once had

TurnBack

Even the darkest ashes
can ignite a fire
for what was once
can always be again
that is and unless
what once warmed is
now not just forgotten
but also abandoned we
see by eyesight but
remember with heart yet
even hearts grow blind
often covered by scars
please my love turn
around for a scarred
heart’s a heavy one

Humility

If I’ve ever learned
anything it’s been one
of my last lessons
but by far the
most potent and hardest
Humility
That says more about
who you consider yourself
to be than all
of the other riches
of those who consider
themselves to be richest

FlowersWoods

Why are some
like picking flowers
while others are
like sawing wood
flowers are delicate
and plucked easily
arranged lovingly and
slowly turned here
and turned there
always finding sun
wood is hard
and knotted causing
stops and starts
wood is heavy
and weighty dirty
difficult definitely challenging
when we’re younger
we pick flowers
learning they die
but wood oh
wood once fallen
discovers its beauty

Seesaw

And then there’s this
one Erik Satie song
which whenever I hear
it I think of
us it’s simple and
elegant lazy yet purposeful
it’s our own seesaw
and just like us
goes up and down
going up and down
often filled with laughter
sometimes demands but always
we are just children
playing as children do
