There’s one thing
that I can’t
apply during my
daily morning ritual
I can shower
and always shave
I can pluck
and preen and
douse and spray
but the one
thing I can’t
is make the
corners of my
mouth turn upright
funny thing corners
they’re right there
the way that
you left them
when you left

I feel sleepy
a little foggy
kind of detached
come this way
open your arms
and let me
weave my way
slowly into you
covering up myself
with the blanket
that you are

I am now
three seasons in
and ready for
my fourth the
fourth being the
most majestic of
all here in
the Rocky Mountains
and I like
a child waiting
gleeful and giddy
for the mountains
to erupt in
red yellow orange
changing from the
lazy humpback whales
swimming up and
down the coast
into Chinese fans
flicking their colors
with such abandon
again happily alive

I remind you
and myself that
thinking is good
doing is better
I’m thinking now
about kissing you
but you’d rather
that I do
than just think
you’re thinking about
moving into me
I’d rather that
you do that
than stay over
thinking about it
life is nothing
if not about
lovers for lovers
do having thought
about doing long
long before now
BicycleTires
When I was younger
I bent my bicycle
tire funny thing about
bicycle tires once bent
they will never be
true again unlike people
you can’t straighten out
a bent bicycle tire
but bent people can
I have learned to
never assume that your
being bent now is
being bent forever for
being true unlike bicycle
tires means being honest
with yourself and while
you may wobble at
first you will surely
eventually glide down the
hill feeling the wind
