Remember those big
yellow taxi cabs
that lumbered around
the city streets
and when off-duty
their signs atop
told you so
I am one
of those having
after several years
left the apps
I no longer
wish to have
or carry around
strangers who selfishly
and without much
thought simply want
me to take
them from one
place to another
quickly and cheap

by simple things
and this morning
I am beside
myself with glee
and my giddiness
changed my morning

from quiet affection
to startling confusion

you asked sleepily

sitting up looking
like a badger
poking its nose
above its den

If I were
a manuscript unedited
how would I
separate my life
into some sense
by loves by
lovers by triumphs
or by tragedies
through rambling prosaic
trains of thought
or clipped vague
secrets and suspicions
how does anyone
make any sense
of anyone else
enough anyway to
be coyly entertaining
enough to keep
the reader reading
if only for

and maybe the

There are two cars
which always arrive separately
one then the other
into the dark parking
lot next to me
one driver gets out
and climbs into the
other for an hour
doing I imagine that
very same thing with
clandestine driver number two
