ChaosVsOrder
I came from chaos
I live in order
not in order to
but in order that
my discipline and rigor
in achieving and maintaining
my degree of order
allows for the chaos
of others to deflect
and rather than define
chaos is absent order
chaos sinks one’s dreams
order eventually elevates them

Now that the apps
are gone I’m realizing
that I didn’t use
them to quench desire
but rather to fill
the gaps with distraction
and if one distraction
decided to yap back
like that one puppy
in the pet store
then he might be
the one to come
home with me the
distraction turned to life
but I’d already had
one life my life
what I really wanted
was something to take
me away from it
not add to it
now no more apps
no more window shopping
in pet store windows
Frame
The apps have
pics of people
men and women
and that’s it
just pics and
pics and more
pics of strangers
no more important
than those found
in frames ready
for purchase in
most novelty stores
one rarely buys
the frame for
the pic one
buys the frame
for the pic
you put inside
we’re all frames
framing those pics
dear to us
and the strangers
first to go

It takes effort
to turn even
the smallest boat
imagine yourself as
that a boat
gliding gently through
sometimes calm waters
sometimes greater swells
it takes time
to change course
but more importantly
it takes discipline
if you want
change in life
do one of
two simple things
remove the oars
and simply drift
you’ll get somewhere
not by choice
but by chance
or dig deeper
and shoulder down
taking your aim
at exactly where
and then the
when will come
be your own
discipline of course
