Hand
I knew then
right then there
what I was
meant to be
a great explorer
for as I
traced the lines
of your palm
as it rested
upon my leg
I knew where
you had been
what you had
touched and every
single other hand
you had held
InDifferent
Deciding to not
rather than do
often does provide
possibilities before unseen
doing the same
results in same
and doing different
causes new freshness
try something new
try anything new
a different way
to walk a
different route to
work a different
outfit to wear
be your different
and therein discover
your different things
Middle
Not everyone wants
the same thing
and why it
takes me longer
than most everyone
to understand this
must be stubbornness
I am but
a petulant child
expecting to get
whatever I want
but like two
men building the
same bridge from
opposite sides of
the vast canyon
the middle to
one is rarely
ever the middle
to the other

If I have learned
anything at all ever
it’s that at the
beginning of almost everything
we are what we
wish someone else was
that’s often called hope
we pretend we project
onto another we ourselves
we want what we
are and nothing else
and then over time
when it’s too late
we learn the truth
that no matter how
they will never be
and neither we them
