soons aren’t better 
they just pluck
my heartstrings which
I thought were
out of tune 
but with him
they just sing
and now I’m
beginning to think 
that just maybe 
he’s one of 
the only ones 
who can improvise 
a simple tune 
into a symphony 

When I look 
at you I
see love not

for me or

love in order 
to or love 
because of or
love between us 
I see love 
and I see
it when you’re 
sleeping and when 
you’re laughing and 
when you’re thinking 
and when you 
catch me looking 
over at you 
and I’m certain 
that when God
was thinking about 
how love looks 
He was thinking

What we have 
is what I 
want have always 
wanted but never 
knew how to 
get looking at 
you sleeping and 
remembering yesterday and

laughter still softly 
rocking my body

happiness with two

Now I know

absent from it
love isn’t sex
love is knowledge 
paired with understanding 
and compassion adding 
in loads and 
loads of laughter 
stirred in with 
glances glowing and 
gentle giggles and

And we looked 
at art and 
each other and 
and had lunch 
and talked about 
life with each 
other and laughed 
and grew even 
closer to each 
other we’d always 
been very close 
but today after 
yesterday tomorrow 
looks better still 
years time and 
distance means nothing
