wolves far more

than ever sunshine
and yet we
wonder why there’s
so much unhappiness
it is easy
because all things
prefer what’s easiest
and those who
choose different tire
and eventually quit
leaving the wrong
to be right

be bitter
when did
sour become
the daily
flavor and
what thorn
is lodged
in everyone
else’s heart
what hurts
so much
as to
cause another
their discomfort
and distress
it would
be different
if we
were to
share joy
but no
we’re stingy
with that

There is
no hope
for a
mean world
where even
the rocks
sigh quietly

tulips weep
and the
animals go
about their
business wishing
that we’d
go back
