the little boat

kindly stays afloat 
I’m not burdened

that’s back there 
on the shore 
from where I 
last set sail 

Finding myself 
figuring out 
my priorities 
getting my
shit together 
letting things
go letting 
things be 
gracefully patient 
taking time
to see
feel hear
and say
accepting loss
but not 
counting it
and living 
the rest
like that 

Life happens 
to each 
on its 
own time 
miles apart 
but marching 
to the
same drum
felt but
not heard
hearts beat 
as one 
and will
follow each 
other home 

I’m not a naked
kind of guy except 
when I am writing 
then I guess who
cares naked is naked 
we all have two 
arms two legs a
head and a few
other things that stick
out or go in 
not much different really 
that is until we
begin to evaluate and 
judge and finally decide 
that what’s over there 
is better than here
funny how clothes lies
and insecurities do that
