morning greets me 
with white chill
as I slip
slowly out away
making my way 
to the fireplace 
on it goes 
just as I
and then you 
are standing there 
still sleepy yet
orange deep red
and slow yellow 
colors all dancing 
as you kneel 
down folding into 
my arms a
well read book 
whispering to me 
coffee can wait 
this moment of
this snowy Colorado 
morning simply can’t 

A shadow appeared 
a brief eclipse 
flying past me 
catching one corner 
of my eye 
and then gone 
eclipsing someone else 
or carrying on 
with whatever shadows 
do when they’re 
done with you 

The morning starts sad
as though the city
has pulled the gray
clouds over its head 
and said tomorrow whatever 
it is I’ll definitely 
deal with it tomorrow 
and from beneath I
hear the sobbing rain 
washing away yesterday’s disappointment 
sometimes that’s just about 
the only thing left 
to do be it
lovers friends even city
such are rainy days 
for one for all 

Mmm coffee is good 
you say to me 
as I climb in
and what about me
I ask playfully defensive 
you oh well you 
are so much better 
kiss kisses quickly following
