It’s usually now
as I do

or ever before 
usually just now 
because I know 
that when maybe

will be gone

Why when you 
belong to something 
do you matter 
but when out
because of you 
or someone else 
then you don’t 
be it group 
frat even relationship 
it’s as though 
you never did 
just your participation 
that makes me 
wonder were they
only ever engaged 
with the they
their and never 
in me mine 

Sometimes like now
I feel like 
that pause between 
raindrops barely noticeable 
because everything else 
is thinking rain 
but the pause 
like a laugh 
or a sigh
is what makes 
a single raindrop 
into a raindrop 
and into rain 
and even sometimes 
an arching rainbow 

There are such things 
as life’s simple pleasures 
the simplest of all 
being silence peace serenity 
which are never broken 
but slowly and steadily 
and almost always certainly 
interrupted enhanced and ended
when you sigh the 
happiest of quiet sighs 
when in your dreams 
having you next to 
me I do hear 

I strip naked 
stand at waters
edge and gaze
not into water
for water can 
never be seen 
water only reflects
or it contains 
but water by
itself is nothing 
much like me
I do suppose 
without you without 
you I’m invisible 
just another thought 
no different than 
the breezy humidity 
that clings and 
dampens other things 
but with you 
I being water
become so much 
quench bathe mirror
