Punchline

I remember you
like a punchline
I didn’t quite
get that took
me a back
not a punch
below the belt
like a bump
around a blind
corner causing me
to become befuddled
off my game
and there it
was that you
then saw me
as more me
than I’d ever
let anyone see
me the punchline
of your joke

Thunder

It isn’t grand
this this isn’t
nor was it
ever or even
meant to be
quiet surely for
such things are
but it’s in
the very nature
of silence do
we hear the
loudest of thunder
heralding the strongest
change out there
on the horizon

Found

Finding myself having
never been lost
to others this
journey has been
heartbreaking and heart
aching but it’s
been all mine
funny thing is
that around others
we frequently lose
ourselves and the
only way to
recover what’s lost
is by finding
it in the
wilderness of our
very own backyards

MoonBean

You have become
my moon sometimes
bright and full
other times just
a sliver and
once a month
dark and gone
but I suppose
it’s still good
to have a
moon orbiting around
for it makes
this planet less
cold and lonely

Joy

Life is simple
at least for
me cup of
coffee clean sheets
a hot shower
and a wink
nod and kiss
all else is
just extra like
those things heaped
onto hotdogs and
hamburgers and ice
cream turning them
into silly extravagance
give me simple
easy pure joy
