Lonelyland

Awakened by him
not him but
another him so
many too many
hims singing hymns
of lament and
longing and loneliness
that I wonder
with so many
hearts aching and
breaking and thirsting
will there ever
be enough love
to quell these
fires that rage
deep in lonelyland

Melody

A finger found
its way there
sight unseen sigh
and sign heard
little green lights
signaling good go
ahead yes please
and this finger
and those ribs
played a melody
only the ears
of lovers hear
humming right along

Routine

A cup a
spoon some coffee
and some cream
standing here stirring
staring and stopping
I remember when
and then like
gum in the
mouth of some
anxiously bored teenager
I’m snapped back
to the taste
that it left
and wondering if

Rest

Up up up
I go beyond
to a place
that I didn’t
know was possible
much less how
to get there
yet here I
am and now
what if anything
at all am
I supposed to
do pull up
a cloud I
guess and rest
maybe someone else
will come along

Separates (for Bean)

I imagine you
there being here
or vice verse
us being simply
a pair of
separates casually thrown
together always matching
without a doubt
or a thought
this is the
easy part of
us just two
of almost anything
making us a
very pretty one
