Fence

I live two
lives switching between
with the ease
of a negotiation
one romantic and
supportive while the
other brutally honest
straddling this fence
I frequently sit
waiting for wind
to carry me
in one direction
or another for
neither is home
home is here
high above watching
neutral and unconcerned

Shush

Accepting was
as is
and is
as was
is but
the sound
oars make
as they
break the
waters surface
pushing one
along on
the lake
of life
nary a
care or
a peep
just shush

Lyrically

Thinking you
thinking me
about what
might be
I look
far away
not really
to see
but maybe
to know
what’s so
should you
and me
ever be

Be (to Bean)

We should never
ignore ourselves for
if we don’t
see who we
are to ourselves
it is unlikely
that anyone else
ever will too
be the magic
that you are
and leave the
shadow up to
others who might
stand beside you

Peacefully

It is quiet
the lull or
eye or darkest
before the dawn
but for me
it is peace
that never leaves
that brings this
one long pause
it’s just here
like air or
light or wind
hardly ever noticed
until someone gets
in its way
then the thing
that’s standing there
gets its attention
but back to
peace I’ll go
for that’s where
home is now
