After all 
of that
I’m happy 
with this
I bathe
in simple 
silence and 
warm serenity 
my voice 
is now 
quiet my
thoughts initial
I am 
with me

If life were lived 
linearly then you’d be 
able to see ahead 
as well as behind 
but no life is 
a straight line rather 
one of those preschool 
art activities where you 
draw a crazy set
of circles and take 
crayons coloring them in
it’s not the line 
that makes one’s life 
it’s the colors you 
choose to fill in
the blanks and holes 

Light lit
in corner
things bathe
in dusk
like hints
and whispers
barely said
train whistle 
bleats in
disbelief and 
a siren 
wails of
a tragedy 
these things 
make up 
my early 
morning here

The sky
this morning 
resembles that
chewing gum 
long ago 
I think 
the one 
with stripes 
you know 
which one 
so juicy 
so sweet 
and chewy 
just like 
this very 
early lazy
mountain day 

I do
so enjoy 
this nothing 
my notion
a thimble 
of simple 
is enough 
of everything 
my peace
