Ight

Oh orb
of night
cast thy
dusty light
on this
lovely sight
a thing
of might
and maybe
and right
and make
this height
short enough
to fight
this my
lover’s plight

Afternoon

A breeze
caught once
and carrying
with it
aroma of
pie or
fragrant perfume
or sound
of something
softer maybe
rain or
linen pinned
to lines
or whispers
said in
sweet secret

Day

As I sit
and watch day
spread across the
mountain like a
shit eating grin
I wonder just
what joke this
day knows that
I don’t and
when if ever
I’ll be told
to get in
on the laughs

Sleep

Sleep sleep
my soul
this you
don’t want
to see
these things
that weep
saturate hope
and bring
the deluge
of despair
to love
sleep sleep
my soul
on this
ferry ride
and awaken
in heaven
where love
sings its
sweetest song
sleep now
my soul

Dreamy

A music box
your heart and
sleep sounds starting
when eyes open
before I’m deaf
but now I
hear every drum
and each flute
carrying me away
and then closer
like the wind
of my symphony
the adagio and
the crescendo and
the turn followed
by my applause
of soft kisses
and quiet laughter
this I hear
in my dreams
when I remember
