Age has 
a way 
of rounding 
the corners
so as
to no
longer catch 
on things 
like an 
emory board
smoothing edges 
and making 
soft hands 

Why do 
we pine
miss long
or yearn
does it 
make us 
somehow valid 
valuable important 
or does 
it simply 
nail us 
to the 
cross of 
our very 
own delusion

You can find 
new things and 
lost things and 
even forgotten things 
but people funny 
how things that 
have a life 
that they live 
can so easily 
and simply disappear 
like smoke from 
a pipe or
rain from clouds 
making one wonder 
if they were 
ever truly there 

Die this life
empty of breath 
not because one 
can no longer 
breathe but because 
one is out 
of breath living 
the type of 
life that will 
leave one breathless 
and then go 
on to whatever 
else awaits you 

Some I guess 
are just thermometers 
measuring the heat 
and others are 
thermostats keeping things 
comfortable whilst others 
are humidistats that
keep things steamy 
oh but you 
were a barometer 
what with all 
of that pressure 
and I but
a balloon avoiding 
your very prick
lest I pop
