Rain

Sometimes a taste
of heaven is
all you get
but those few
drops are enough
to find their
way to the
seedlings of happiness
making the forest
of ever after
alive and well
never discount rain
for it comes

Giant

Lamps and
yellow light
bathe darkness
as heat
kicks on
and I
on autopilot
land safely
like a
lumbering giant
with an
oof in
front of
kitchen sink
to start
making coffee
and day

Late

These late mornings
when the sun
like some hesitant
child is coaxed
to get up
finally sleepily stumbles
down the corridor
of tall buildings
and eventually lands
upon the table
known as mountains
where it finds
a breakfast of
clouds and sky

Alone

It’s so funny
this living alone
patters and pace
heard only below
for no other
feet or paws
skitter about vying
for my attention
I hear sounds
of things soldiers
and servants such
are the machines
that willingly serve
and protect me
other than that
it’s just me

Dryer

Another morning silent
broken by machines
past the kitchen
the dryer spins
tapping out code
of toppling buttons
clackity clack click
cleaning and tumbling
oh it’s done
time to fold
holding close warmth
like the hugs
that I remember
from long ago
