Lot

I don’t have
a lot but
the lot that
I have is
enough and the
enough is so
very much to
me and mine

Stories

I had lunch
with seniors today
and thought about
the thousands and
thousands of stories
that they lived
and I knew
that I was
in a library
for mountains tell
no tales only
people ever do

Blue

Blue I see
top to bottom
except for white
as an afterthought
of perhaps night
or maybe not
maybe smoke or
perhaps days haze
that’s hanging just
beyond my curiosity
let it be
I do think
let it go
it likely stinks

Promise

I don’t promise
unless it’s guaranteed
so many nowadays
promise to promote
or to protect
their selfish interests
they say whatever
is necessary to
get what’s wanted
but not me
I’m my word
if I promise
consider it done
whatever it is
whatever it takes
for my promise
is all I
have for you

Swim

When young and
at the beach
holes I dug
walls I built
to keep the
sea at bay
and now at
this old age
I realize that
that the sea
was really me
and the things
that I built
were really others
now to swim
never again walk
amongst any others
