OhMoon

Tonight’s moon hangs

In the sky

Like that one

Last Christmas ornament

That no one

Wishes to take

Down instead staring

At it remembering

Like a polished

Button on midnights

Jacket it sits

There catching sunlight

Like the first

Orange you touch

Or the last

Gumball you chewed

Oh moon visit

Me again tomorrow

Home

It seems as

Though so many

Come back to

Me not as

Returned mail but

Rather like dogs

After a romp

In the brambles

Dirty smelly weary

Looking for a

Smiling face and

Some comfort after

Their far-off adventures

I guess I’m

Home to them

What a marvelous

Thing to be

For someone else

Time

For as I

Recall you saying

It’s not the

Being together that

Binds us it’s

The time together

That does and

Since time is

What we have

We shall remain

Together for ever

Inconsequential

It’s not the

Grand things I

Remember it’s all

The tiny hints

Of you that

Few ever see

That floats me

Like a buoy

In the water

Sleepy eyed mornings

Wink and giggle

Hide and seek

Among the hedges

Hiding in freshly

Raked piled leaves

Fresh snowball fights

That final last

Kiss good night

Before sleep pulls

Up the covers

All these silly

Inconsequential little things

Early

Bank of clouds

Hangs low on

The horizon bleeding

Streaks of crimson

Like medium-rare steaks

As dawn approaches

Quietly drawing up

Shades of night

Days sky begins

To hum yellow

White like plumage

Of molting birds

Early quiet remains

Except for one

Lone mockingbird calling

Into the silence

Car lights far

Off twinkle like

Alley cat eyes

Caught by surprise

Car tires shush

Sounding like the

Shovels beneath heavily

Fallen snow as

Coffee warms me

Removing the chill

Like hot baths

Day is yawning

Stretching and smiling
