I’d rather watch 
the world go
by than jump
onto the bandwagon 
into the fray
I’d been part
and a piece 
I’ve seen everything 
old become new 
and the new 
thinking that they 
somehow invented it 
such folly this

Serenity is
the note
and solitude 
is the
tone one 
is heard
and one 
is felt

Sometimes I do 
wish that there
was somebody else 
not a someone 
but a generic
old fashioned somebody 
who would match
my homebody vibe 
not a who
more a what 
that I could 
show and say 
see I did
this by myself 
not a pet
or a plant
just a somebody 
who never wants 
to be someone 

I’m an edge
and corner kinda 
guy no middle 
for me those 
outside have all 
of the frosting 
most of moisture 
and just a 
bit of crunch 
you can keep 
the lonely middle 
such a square 
just like I
like my days 

Being selfish 
isn’t bad
it’s when 
one’s selfishness 
targets another 
that is
keep your 
marbles at
home and 
only play 
with others 
when you 
stand to 
lose everything
