Seesaw

And then there’s this
one Erik Satie song
which whenever I hear
it I think of
us it’s simple and
elegant lazy yet purposeful
it’s our own seesaw
and just like us
goes up and down
going up and down
often filled with laughter
sometimes demands but always
we are just children
playing as children do

OnePlace

I imagine you here
here where you’ve been
but now your space
out there lies empty
it’s always out there
where I notice you
not there or here
where I am but
I know one place
you will always be
it’s that one place
no one ever sees

BackForth

We always double back
you and I do
we always seem to
find some reason to
whether good or bad
we seem to be
the gum or paper
on the shoe bottom
stepped into maybe unseen
but always under foot
you say you do
I know that I
find you in places
you have never been
a mirage you appear
as though you should
be there with me
but you never are
so back we come
and away we go
me being the tide
and you the beach

Delectable

Why does it
seem that there’s
always just one
of someone else
that turns screws
that causes collapse
whether it’s control
or just laughter
and this single
thing is usually
that one thing
which brings chagrin
to the owner
perhaps it’s then
when our innocence
is most apparent
making us delectable

Marionette

It seems to me
that when one has
everything that one wants
there’s one small piece
that always remains missing
and this one small
thing while gone unnoticed
is that one small
thing which brings animation
to all the others
for without simply that
we are but marionettes
lacking our precious strings
