I have finally learned
the lesson of less
Less is far better
than more ever is
Less is a blessing
it forces one to
be simpler to appreciate
and to be kind
Less is what I
imagine Heaven to be
A place of snowfall
of silence of calm
of sunshine and rain
of humanity and mindfulness
I have lived through
the lesson of more
More always wants more
more is a hellscape
an eternity of selfishness
Less lets things go
unnoticed and unwanted things
baggage and staggering burden
The lesson of less
isn’t one for fools
or fearful or frivolity
The lesson of less
is reserved for those
who are courageous capable
and strong committed to
living life with more
of almost everything importantly
impactful and essentially impossible
simply by accepting that
less is always more

Fireworks
I do so enjoy
this time of day
these last few hours
of the long night
of twinkling far off
street lights of the
darkest of dark skies
of this deep dense
thick and unyielding black
I am an onlooker
awaiting like reveling children
on our Independence Day
for the skies to
open in an explosion
of this new day
Songs
There are some songs
which reverberate causing goosebumps
because I think they
resonate with every cell
making them stand up
like an audience inspired
clapping and hooting whistling
and then there are
other songs that promote
thought quiet thinking thought
that washes over me
like I’m a beach
being languidly lapped teasingly
taunted to go deeper
but I think that
my favorite song of
all is the symphony
which I hear when
my head is cradled
in your arms and
chest the distant drum
of heart and the
soothing syncopation of your
heart giving you life

be it smile laugh
or love be it
embrace meal or bed
be it sunlight or
moon glow or star
be it kindness or
caring or even respect
It only ever takes
just one thing to
ignite almost everything else
be that one thing
be it every moment
