Attempted by the courageous
And crazy lucky ones

For the hello so
Cautious for the kiss
So wanton and passionate
And determined to climb
Every set of sexual
Stairs with me so
Quiet and introspective as
We talked and touched
And cooed and cooled
That now when I
Tell you it was
Okay time to go
Your wide-eyed innocence
And disbelief betrays what
Your body just did
One more early am
Sitting here with some
Throaty jazz and pot
Of strong coffee forcing
Humanity into my mind
After a night of
Bawdy abandon with dreams
Of past soon to
Be past and yet
To be past lovers
And sitting here imagining
Having this same coffee
And it’s over conversation
I will meet you
That you can count
Whether it will be
In person or through

Sometimes it doesn’t work

Trying and then failing
