Then I pressed play
And off we went
Two characters in film
Still life and motion
Flickering posing and candid
Backdrops and portraits portrayed
Our own little comedy
And now and still
These motion pictures and
Screen tests are all
I have to remember
Then I pressed play
And off we went
Two characters in film
Still life and motion
Flickering posing and candid
Backdrops and portraits portrayed
Our own little comedy
And now and still
These motion pictures and
Screen tests are all
I have to remember
When I was young
We had a bottle
Filled with fairy juice
In it was a
Halo on a wand
You wished and blew
Out popped a fairy
It glided and bounced
It sparkled and shimmered
As it caught sunlight
But when chased when
Caught and tried to
Keep it popped disappearing
Into a million sparkles
This is love now
At least to me
Born from a wish
Through a halo breathed
Only to pop disappearing
When I dare touch
Once when I was
Younger a lover rented
A garret an awful
Hole in the wall
Stuck way up on
A forgotten floor of
A home whose only
View could be seen
From there and from
There the city fanned
Out like a favorite
Bedtime story calling us
To dream the kinds
Of dreams lovers do
Sometimes I do think
That when we argue
We aren’t pulling away
But rather pushing closer
Like earths tectonic plates
That when words fly
We’re doing nothing more
Than figuring out how
We can comfortably lay
Closer together not apart
There is just something
About delicate jazz chilly
City mornings and coffee
It’s like home here
Wherever here may be
And when you come
Out to me swimming
In my sweatshirt and
Nothing else to kiss
Me and sip mine
And sit across me
I know this much
City jazz morning coffee
Is all the heaven
That I’ll ever need
