All it ever 
takes is one 
one for me 
of nearly everything 
to prompt prove 
and to provide 
just enough hope 
for me to 
continue to sift
one nugget one 
wink one smile 
it rarely ever 
is the one 
you know that 
perfect forever one 
but one has 
always been better 
than the nones

Screaming from the hilltop 
outside of your cave 
I am lonely here 
does little except to 
sheep who graze nearby 
instead gather what’s left 
and go into town 
and say hello to others 
for everyone at some 
point has been on
their very own hilltops 
and surrounded by sheep 
for as connected as 
we all are now 
it exacerbates our loneliness 

Letting go of one 
thing always makes room 
for another whether it 
be friend fruit or 
foe accepting what is 
even if broken bruised
or bankrupt only serves 
them and never you 
we can always have 
most of almost anything 
but to have more 
requires each of us 
to let go of 
all of our nots

And often when I 
am stumbling through dark 
and even knowing where 
I cannot find what 
the where is unimportant 
the what less so 
what is most often 
is that I do 
for when I stop 
searching is when I 
know that I fail
so I don’t worry 
about where or what
but that I consistently 
do to ever find
