Moonset

And from my window
I watch as the
moon dances through the
sky waltzes actually or
maybe just shuffles like
the lonely wallflower boy
at his first dance
hopelessly moving and wishing
that someone would ask
but no one ever
does so alone he
does what he so
desperately wishes he could
Such is the moon
tonight so full of
shine and yet so
lonely if only one
might but never does

ParisMorning

There’s this one
song which reminds
me of you
you and me
when in Paris
on a cold
morning pulled together
just enough money
to buy just
one espresso and
one chocolate croissant
and we shared
both of them
huddled closely together
next to the
Seine and under
that one tiny
red striped awning
naming the place
but like the
song and place
I cannot remember
their names but
who and what
and where then
I’ll always remember
that soggy simple
silly Paris morning

UsuallyThen

It is usually
now well usually
now because then
is what I
usually think about
when I’m thinking
usually about anything
It’s then that
I think about
then that pulls
and yanks me
away from now
because it’s then
that I think
about when now
is nothing more
than just now
who wants now
when that then
is always better

PleaseWillYouDo

I just want
to stay here
one more moment
one more moment
please
just stay here
now with me
let the world
go where it
may where it
will
let me think
and trace these
words upon your
body connecting dots
of quiet affection
let me kiss
you
just one more
time let me
just one more
time do this
and do me
doing you this
way that I
do

Romantic

Just where have all
of the romantics gone
have they been swallowed
by this new need
for now right now
when did things speed
up blurring everything into
just one more one
more and one more
where did the slowness
go the lazy summer
afternoons just watching the
dew drip down the
glass as silent winds
shushed through oak trees
and laughter wafted from
the mouths of children
playing on the rise
of the hill when
did biting sarcasm replace
genuine affection and kindness
we do indeed seem
to be at the
end of days at
least for the romantics
