primp wishing to present
said thing place or
lover to the world

Everyone needs a place
A place to belong

A place that’s theirs
theirs to retreat to
to remain in to
adore of to retrieve
from a place that
is you when you’re
not there a place
to make love and
meet friends and that
place can always be
either there or whom

I am certainly loved
by four men younger
than me three friends
and one lover and
one my own age
Love comes in many
forms in any age
Most of us can
give love but few
can or will accept
Stinginess moves both ways
I suggest that you
accept as freely as
you give it’s lovely

I have often wondered
what an athlete thinks
when the finish line
is in sight do
they remember all of
the pain and sacrifice
all of the missed
memories and lost opportunities
or do they think
soon soon I will
triumph and then celebrate
These same feelings are
for those who propose
hoping they will hear

I see relationships as
a snapshot of a
particular moment with particular
people who through some
miracle of place and
time were at the
right moment I don’t
believe that they were
meant to last forever
