It’sMorning

There is something about

The last bit of

Night the cracker crunch

Of brittle snow beneath

Feet the cold ache

Of arthritic car doors

And the growling of

Icy tired car engines

That reminds me of

Morning and as the

World starts its march

You slide in beside

Me warm and fresh

Like a Turkish towel

And wrap your arms

Around me like a

River otter to offspring

As your hair fresh

From water and lavender

Tickles my nose a

Kiss lands upon my

Lips like an envelope

Slid through the mail

Slot softly floating to

The floor signaling me

That today is here

MorningJazz

I no longer desire

Yearn or long for

Like a phonograph needle

That has found its

Groove after years of

Skipping I can at

Last and once again

Hum those deliciously high

Notes and whiskered snares

And plucked bass lows

Of early morning jazz

OneLeafTwo (for Miles)

And like the leaf

That blew far away

From the forest I’ve

Spent time wondering where

And how but knowing

That if I did

Then surely more have

And surely more will

When yesterday one did

And that one meant

More to me than

Any forest ever could

Happeness

Knowing where one belongs

Is different from knowing

Ones place admitting what

Makes one sing is

More important than being

Able to sing being

Comfortable with nearly nothing

Is oftentimes calmer than

Seeking everything happiness should

Be spelt happeness for

I have found my

Greatest happiness when things

That make me happiest

Naturally quietly simply happen

ShinyPennies

I’m no longer afraid

Or angry oh yes

I retreated into myself

When like a turtle

I’d been touched too

Often by unfamiliar hands

But now time passed

And out I come

No longer wishing to

Impress but be impressed

Like a tarnished penny

Full of glee at

The sight of newly

Minted and shiny pennies

Oh aren’t they beautiful
