Kite (to MuensterđŸȘ)

I moved from where
I was to where
I am for only
one thing to be
near my best friend
We’d met many decades
before when just boys
but even then we
knew the strength of
the string that connects
the kite to ground
it may be long
and may fly high
may get tangled and
may even get lost
but always comes home
eventually to fly again

It’sFallY’all 🍂🍁

Things are changing
even dogs know
noses pointing north
something is coming
people do too
they rifle through
closets cedar chests
clothes hooks too
are beginning to
feel the weight
of heavier things
sandals and sneakers
too being replaced
everyday things too
much less ice
and more warm
maybe even hot
it’s fall y’all
time of leaves
and barren trees
and of cuddling
and frequent canoodling
of being closer
than close together

BicycleTires

When I was younger
I bent my bicycle
tire funny thing about
bicycle tires once bent
they will never be
true again unlike people
you can’t straighten out
a bent bicycle tire
but bent people can
I have learned to
never assume that your
being bent now is
being bent forever for
being true unlike bicycle
tires means being honest
with yourself and while
you may wobble at
first you will surely
eventually glide down the
hill feeling the wind

Clock (for Gil)

The difference
between intimacy
and sex
is as
simple as
a clock
sex speeds
on ahead
ticking ticking
and ticking
until then
whereas intimacy
chimes in
some far
off room
and echoing
a quiet
simple reminder

ComesOne

And then just when
my disappointment turned violent
and anger rained down
a voice said hi
with a child’s innocence
what is your name
and this question led
to more and more
just like the first
leaf of fall becomes
Autumn I think that
I now finally understand
that there always comes
one but only after
there has been a
longer time of none
