fortress complete
with moat
and ramparts 
knock all

bring your 
battering ram
lay siege 
but bruh

getting in
not by
the hair

Some seek
others gawk
some peek
and a
few look
I glance 
and dance 
around it
all having 
been myself 
a victim 
of hit
and run 

We think that 
we know when 
all we can 
do is guess 
and then we 
punish ourselves for 
getting it wrong 
what if forgiveness 
started long before 
taking a whack
at things uncertain 
and that right 
is frequently wrong 

I’m happy 
despite others
and not 
because of
them and 
that little 
awareness has 
made all 
the difference 

Glue tape 
and rags
maybe rubber
all meant
to patch
but none 
ever stays 
for what 
finds freedom
