Which

I don’t know
if it’s the
flame or ember
that warms me
so long after
one promised me
so much light
while the other
ever lasting comfort
I’ll just sit
here and wonder

Nighttime

There’s a rhythm
here at night
beyond the lights
that shimmer outside
closer to music
candles and clock
fireplace and lamps
they all move
me and carry
me far away
and yet closer
to you in
their dancing light

Wood

In the wood
where cackles tweets
and erps sing
and we go
to hum along
we find peace
that forever has
belonged and we
as visitors who
long ago knew
come here says
the wood to
remember and forget

Away

Sometimes you
gotta go
without even
knowing why
maybe a
sound or
a smell
or a
bit of
wind calls
and off
you go
flying or
running but
never away

Wind

And wind
against window
reminding me
of bones
that ache
I lay
in darkness
and count
one knock
then two
thinking of
knees and
hips and
the many
miles I
have gone
