AfterYesterday (to Brandon)

There is a

Peace in knowing

A calm when

Understood like a

Blanket draped over

You on a

Chilly evening or

Catching a falling

Star to be

Gotten and felt

To express and

Be intimate to

Duck ones head

Under the surface

Of affection and

Rise to kindness

This is the

Sun I bathe

In after yesterday

AndItCame (to Brandon)

And in my

Sleep it came

Carried on the

Wings of angels

Insight and rest

It bathed me

In understanding like

A warm robe

After cool bath

We’re friends friends

That love kiss

And enjoy each

Others company we

Are tending each

Other like plants

Watering and pruning

Watching the other

Grow and Blossom

There’s no label

Or expectation simply

The knowledge that

We’re in each

Others lives and

This brings joy

ThisMorning (to Brandon)

Asleep you are

An ebony cat

Curled beneath dove

Gray linen which

Has twisted itself

Around you like

Silver crawling Ivy

I’ve excused myself

For coffee and

Words letting you

Sleep once I’ve

Expressed myself I

Shall crawl beside

You wrapping myself

Around like philo

Dough creating a

Puff pastry with

You as the

Creamy chocolate filling

Daybreak

The early morning

Sun dabs the

House across the

Street yellow like

I did when

Mustard covered your

Chin spreading sunshine

Like dandelions held

Under your chin

A cardinal roosts

Proudly in tall

Pines looking like

Christmas calling to

His mate come

Here and kiss

Me there’s beauty

Here as crickets

Sing their last

Opus before the

Intermission of daybreak

MorningCharlotte

The day starts

Warm like my

Mother’s kitchen after

Cooking the skies

Like a gray

Woolen overcoat patched

With red thread

The trees green

Fade into black

As emerald lawns

Await the pups

Footprints all is

Quiet except for

The nervous bark

Of a small

Dog alerting the

Owner like a

Doorbell as my

Coffee steams and

Warms this morning
