SandCastle (to Jay)

Oh we spent

Time building our

Sandcastle with pails

And shovels and

Hands pushing and

Forming and scraping

With gleeful abandon

When one huge

Wave erased everything

Gone now it

Is choose we

Must rebuild it

Or head down

The beach hand

In hand looking

For a safer

Harbor for dreams

Lashing (to Jay)

And then I

Snapped like a

Wet towel growled

And barked like

A junk yard

Dog lunged like

A swamp alligator

And eventually saw

Before me moist

Eyes and tears

Why oh why

Did I do

That to you

And now we

Sit in the

Cold silence like

Late January winters

Frozen in place

ForestSounds

When you tune

Out the noise

Of life when

You stop listening

Even to yourself

And wander into

A forest you

Will hear the

Cackling and calling

Of birds one

To the other

While unseen you

Know they’re there

Just like angels

Singing the sweet

Melodies of heaven

CharlotteMorning

Today starts crisp

Like the first

Succulent bite into

A cold apple

The morning dew

On my toes

Tickling like wet

Feathers and the

Birdsong symphonies in

Stereo surrounding me

Low sun catches

Tall tree tops

Making them glow

Sudsy like kitchen

Sponges as the

Steam rises from

My coffee like

Sirens released ghostly

From Pandora’s box

MorningsFirework

It’s morning when

The suns shallow

Rays ignite the

Tree tops making

Them explode with

Greens and yellows

And browns like

Fireworks against a

White-wispy blue backdrop

Even the birds

Utter sweet soft

Oooos and ahhhhs
