Water

And there in

I first saw

You splashing about

Swimming you said

Laughing I called

Dog paddling around

Just like Sparky

Have a drink

I asked you

Maybe you’ll relax

Then I’ll drown

Will you then

Jump in to

Save me sweetheart

My love I

Swim like concrete

Use the lime

And ice-cubes instead

Fresh…

Like lingering aromas

Of baking bread

Of newly discovered

Rustling tissue paper

Hiding wanted gifts

Of streets steaming

By summer rains

Of shushing tires

After thunder storms

Of white blankets

Bathing northern pines

Of orange moons

At harvest time

Of acrid smells

In hay lofts

Of espresso’s fingers

Tickling early mornings

Of the plumpcity

In children’s cheeks

Of the first

Wet lapping kiss

From a puppy

These always remain

As they were

Simply deliciously fresh

ThisMorning (to Bean)

Early morning sun

Poked through trees

Splashing the street

With yellowed white

Every green imaginable

Captured before you

Like wildly grinning

Children caught off-guard

Zoe on leash

Prowled like thieves

Foraging for breakfast

Your shadow there

Danced like ghosts

Thinking of me

This morning’s walk

BeLonging

As a boy

He held but

One thing in

His heart which

Was to wander

Free amongst the

Forest treasures and

Dance in moonlight

But he lived

Amongst the beasts

In towns made

Of pride greed

And anger so

All he could

Do was wait

Until that one

Harvest moon upon

Which his path

Would be shone

Taking him home

To the shire

And his fae

Courage (to Michelle)

Courage is

Simply the

Action of

Doing something

For others

Absent of

Your personal

Gain it

Is generous

And prone

To be

Seen by

Others as

Ludicrous that

Said shall

We not

Dance in

The rain

Tell the

Same old

Tired jokes

And set

Aside differences

And be

As courageous

As we

Were as

The children

We once

Were before

We lost

That innocence
