Romeo Deux

You
peak from
beneath the
alioncomforter
naked
a foot pops
out awkwardly
you wear a
burka
your face
masked
by the crisp
cotton sheet smelling
like
us
this morning
sitting mesmerized
I study your
form like
a sculptor

Dreams

I dream
sad dreams
they come
to me in
the night
like sirens
and poke
at me with
sharp sticks

they remind
me of my own
folly my lost
loves those
passed away

I’m hurled
upon the
rocky shore
of twilight
my galleon’s
mattress
softens
the crash
of my alarm

Hawaii Beach

I went to the beach
yesterday

sand and sun

you could smell the surf
and feel salt on your skin

you laid next to me almost

naked

I too ashamed of myself
sat uncomfortably in the
sand like a turtle

flipping over onto your back
I saw your chest expand
and relax the mounds of
muscle found their rippled
beneath winds off the water
the trail of hair trailed from
your nipples to a straight line
disappearing beneath your shorts
where they swelled with your sex

what’re you staring at you squinted

nothing turning away ashamed

you can look

you said

it’s not looking that I wanted

Rain in Hawaii

It’s raining
in Hawaii
locals say
it’s the gods
weeping
clouds hang
like snagged
balloons and
move quickly
through the
basin stopping
to drop ladels
of water on my
neighbors
curtains of rain
are drawn closed
here at home

Kindling

I’m still
sleepy this
morning
the smell
of you
hangs
like netting
above the bed
our room is
littered
with light
closing curtains
will bathe us
in darkness
our nakedness
draws chills
even your arms
can’t blanket
the tickling air
you pull me atop
you like a blanket
hoping my weight
will warm you but
its the heat
of my heart that
strikes
the kindling of our
limbs
