FirstToTurn

It’s not all

The leaves that

Turn in fall

It’s the first

That catch my

Eye for they

Herald the change

For me that’s

You that first

Blaze of color

In a sea

Of green catching

All of my

Attention like wafts

Of honeysuckle lavender

In summer or

A quiet wink

Or the surprise

Over the shoulder

Glance and stare

NoMoreCrutches (to Me)

Sometimes in life

We all need

Crutches me I

Needed them for

A decade until

One recent morning

I decided to

Take my life

Back from them

I can’t wait

To descend a

Staircase hang the

Christmas tree star

And dance with

Someone let me

Take your hand

And dip you

Reclaiming ones life

Starts simply quietly

By promising yourself

It’s my life

No one or

Nothing else’s again

OneEyedMorning (to boo)

At the very

First crack of

Light on the

East like a

Lamp seen on

The floor beneath

The door morning

Starts here with

The sweet delicate

Sounds of birdsongs

Much like you

Start next to

Me opening one

Eye halfway letting

Me see you

Sleepily bathed in

Quiet morning newness

Cannonball

And right then

When you thought

Just maybe that

What you felt

Might be true

Who ever it

Is and so

You changed accepted

Redacted and ignored

All bells and

Whistles warning you

To be careful

Running and jumping

Off the pier

Fear behind you

Until you hit

The icy cold

Bold frozen water

Realizing too late

That chilly people

Cripple warm hearts

ItReallyIs (to All of You)

What would life

Look like if

We trusted the

Unknown instead of

Filling the known

With things now

We tend to

Anticipate tomorrow as

Though we’re attending

Our own party

Expecting requested gifts

But isn’t tomorrow

A surprise party

We can choose

To either be

Giddy with glee

Or sadly disappointed

We can celebrate

Genuine affection or

Selfishly stack our

Deck assuring satisfaction

I urge you

To live today

And trust tomorrow

Not as certainty

But as an

Unexpected surprise because

It really is
