Men

Where’d the men go
Did they march off
to some war of
which I was unaware
Were they beamed up
into some alien craft
and swept far away
to some distant planet
to propagate that place
Where did they go
Being a man meant
something once and not
what so many think
What did it mean
Go ask your fathers
father and his father
and his and his
for men have been
gone for a long
time before yesterday and
even longer than today
And I’m wholly uncertain
if they’ll ever return
having been lost to
war or another place

EverAgainEver

I do remember
Of course I
remember I remember
fondly but not
longingly time has
severed that connection
like a prisoner
pulling his chain
free from post
sending him somewhere
anywhere else but
there where misery
pain and suffering
occurred once love
had souringly curdled
I have rinsed
my mouth of
you and wiped
my lips clean
but yes I
do remember of
course I remember
I never lost
the taste of
you but I
doubt that I
will enjoy you
ever again ever

LayWithMe

Lay with me

Let me paint

You with words

Let me strum

Your hair like

A harp let

Me tap your

Tummy like a

Tympani let my

Fingers dip in

Loves water colors

And draw circles

Across your brow

Down the cliffs

Of your cheekbones

And pool in

The hollows of

Your throat lay

With me and

Let me look

Into your eyes

And see stars

So far away

Yet close enough

To touch stay

Lay with me

Delay with me

Let this night

Last into the

Day with me

NoFun (to Zeke)

I’m relieved that

We’re done like

A poorly prepared

Student sighs at

The end of

A tough exam

I’m relieved like

A patient discovering

It’s simply a

Cold nothing worse

Relieved like a

Child wrapping his

First present and

A frightened actor

Simply reciting lines

There’s simply no

Fun in us

Vacation (for Zeke)

Far away you

Are on a

Quest slaying the

Dragons of stress

Relaxing near water

Like sunning sea

Lions marooned with

Sweating umbrella drinks

Reclining you forget

Until my face

Appears like an

Apparition in an

Ice cube reminding

You that you

Belong here with

Me
