Oh dear
I erred
I had
love entangled
with security
a bodyguard
of sorts
protecting my
soul from
the evils
but I
was wrong
for love

and not
an anchor
or roots
Calm
Early morning calm
well past the
scaries of night
and well before
noises of day
the moment before
rain starts falling
the feeling it
before seeing it
this kinda calm
the quiet kind
the kind that
almost nobody misses
having slept through
Chores
Chores become what
when joy’s involved
meditation and expression
or maybe an
exercise in futility
given that dirt
and dust returns
it’s so like

Low west sun
does the same
to dusk sky
as the lamp
in the corner
does to your
eyes making blue
deeper than ocean
blue and blue
darker than plum
almost a purple
