Chair

In a chair
I sit there
it has wheels
running for me
fly I do
stop like glue
this I fear
bringing such sneer
he is less
they may guess
of a man
who once ran

Mad

Oh but if
I were a
belfry bats would
fly escaping from
the madness free
to wander watching
from afar as
the bell tolls
stay away friends

Sleepyhead

Such dreams this
night strangers and
places none of
whom I’d known
why oh why
dear little mind
do you torture
me in sleep
now upon waking
I am questioning
as to which
of you are
real and not
can I say

For

Having done
for others
I find
this doing
for myself
a kind
of love
whereas before
I looked
for it
in eyes
of others
I now
feel it
in the
smile of
my heart

Journey

Now after all
and after that
and being here
dipping my hands
into cold water
and breathing air
again at last
I look around
seeing none other
no one else
but this nothingness
on I go
away from water
onto the slope
and wonder when
next I will
touch the sky
