If I have learned
anything at all ever
it’s that at the
beginning of almost everything
we are what we
wish someone else was
that’s often called hope
we pretend we project
onto another we ourselves
we want what we
are and nothing else
and then over time
when it’s too late
we learn the truth
that no matter how
they will never be
and neither we them
Author: Harlan Didrickson
I first started writing this blog as a way to refocus my thinking after a debilitating mental breakdown in 2008. Having been educated in writing, I had hoped that my love for words would have left a trail for me to follow and, well, here we are.
NeverAgain
Never again
will I
ever move
I have
lived in
the city
and country
beach and
the mountains
moving about
taking only
what I
could carry
and each
time having
to rebuild
and buy
all comforts
it once
was easy
this adventure
a tent
a horse
a dream
but now
now I’m
used to
a life
delivered quickly
by Amazon
IntrigueVsInterest
Intrigue and interest
are two words
associated with attraction
but what do
they actually mean
imagine a dog
on a walk
the snap of
a branch surely
catches his attention
ears perk up
whereas a rustling
and a scent
something to follow
draws him closer
intrigue is the
invitation the curiosity
and the arousal
interest is the
snare the trap
that’s now sprung
with you your
eyes and smile
are my intrigue
and your arms
and lips are
my ultimate interest
ModernHermit
And now sitting
here I realize
why I haven’t
met anyone here
yet in Denver
I am to
reflect upon myself
absent from distraction
much like the
hermit tucked inside
of a cave
atop the mountain
I have the
mountain part handled
being a mile
above sea level
but the cave
not so much
for here I
enjoy the creature
comforts of modernity
WordWalk
I must go
the words await
like a dog
standing near door
leash in mouth
waiting to walk
they won’t stop
until we go
on our little
walk into imagination
where at last
they will explore
and discover things
that I cannot
even though I’m
looking at the
same exact thing
