I have enough
When someone reaches
this point in
life this point
of being happy
with what one
has then the
next stop that
one will arrive
at is peace
Author: Harlan Didrickson
I first started writing this blog as a way to refocus my thinking after a debilitating mental breakdown in 2008. Having been educated in writing, I had hoped that my love for words would have left a trail for me to follow and, well, here we are.
Life
When one seeks
then one finds
Wanting isn’t enough
Heaven and Christmas
are filled with
wishes and hopes
Seeking requires action
not just prayers
Life is taken
and never given
except when born
From that moment
on it’s up
to you how
to live life
Storm
A storm rolled in
not a metaphorical storm
but a real one
and now its anger
layers the heavens above
one heavy dark layer
atop the other thick
black atop heavy grey
one denser than the
other like the mood
of most drunks sitting
sullenly at the corner
stool of the neighborhood
bar their despair growing
as their glasses empty
until at last thunder
erupts following their anxiety
slowly staggering home bound
poorer and poorer still
Less
I have finally learned
the lesson of less
Less is far better
than more ever is
Less is a blessing
it forces one to
be simpler to appreciate
and to be kind
Less is what I
imagine Heaven to be
A place of snowfall
of silence of calm
of sunshine and rain
of humanity and mindfulness
I have lived through
the lesson of more
More always wants more
more is a hellscape
an eternity of selfishness
Less lets things go
unnoticed and unwanted things
baggage and staggering burden
The lesson of less
isn’t one for fools
or fearful or frivolity
The lesson of less
is reserved for those
who are courageous capable
and strong committed to
living life with more
of almost everything importantly
impactful and essentially impossible
simply by accepting that
less is always more
Dawn
The day starts quietly
as the rest sleep
but I sit awake
thinking and quietly watching
as the day yawns
from deep blue to
the shallows of dawn
